Reclaim the Streets: A Symposium on Art and Public Space

This interdisciplinary symposium brings together artists, scholars, curators, activists, city officials, community organizations, and engaged citizens to examine and discuss the goals, perceptions, problems, and possibilities of public art in Victoria. 

Reclaim the Streets involves a number of public events, activities, and artworks, as well as a two-day symposium. The symposium features presentations and a series of roundtable discussions to encourage audience involvement and participation in these important conversations.

Reclaim the Streets is presented by Open Space in partnership with the City of Victoria and the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria, with support from the Canada Council for the Arts, the British Columbia Community Gaming Grant, the Capital Regional District, Cloverdale Paint, Benjamin Moore Paint, MediaNet, Garrick's Head Pub, the Ministry of Casual Living, the Wayward School, OuterSpace Gallery, the Vancouver Island Public Interest Research Group, Wandering Eye Media, the City Talks and the Joint.
