An independent group of registered independent, field-qualified Professional Engineers and Engineering Professors who have spent two years analyzing Enbridge's proposed Northern Gateway project have concluded that more than 3.5 times the additional tanker frequency rate in Douglas Channel of 220 per year as stated by Enbridge are likely (actually 766 additional potentially hazardous tankers per year once those required for diluent import and potential LNG export are accounted for, with even more hazards once additional service vessels are included -- both in AND out of the waterways) -- and more than 3.5 TIMES THE RISK of collisions and/or spills -- according to real-world estimates.
